Why minimalism?
What does minimalism have to do with editing? Well, minimalism is about removing the things that don’t add value to your life, thereby increasing your appreciation of those things you do have. Like with clothing and other belongings, I believe in intentionality with every single word I use in copy. If it doesn’t bring value to the message I’m delivering, I remove it.
Long spiels and never-ending speeches are forgettable and ineffective. Whether it’s a book, a blog post, or website copy, you lose the reader with unnecessary jargon.
My goal as both a writer and an editor is to simplify words and refine my or my client’s voice to keep those readers hanging on to every last word and then remembering those words long after they’re done reading.
